Nagykovácsi (Großkowatsch in German) is situated in Pest county in the Pilisvörösvár sub-region. Thanks to its neighbouring position to the 2nd and 12th districts it has become one of the most popular an most expensive satellite settlements around Budapest. The village is located in a beautiful natural environment surrounded by mountains in the territory of the Buda Natural Reserve Park home of many unique species.

The bordering settlements of Nagykovácsi are: Budapest, Remeteszőlős, Solymár, Pilisszentiván, Piliscsaba, Tinnye, Perbál, Budajenő, Telki and Budakeszi. Because of its favourable conditions it is popular among tourists. 85% of its uninhabited territory belongs to the Natural Reserve Park. The settlement hosts the American International School. There is only one road leading in and out of Nagykovácsi, and due to its dead-end features it has an advantageous transport system as it is easily reachable from Budapest but at the same time there is no transit trafic.
